The shortlist for the Arthur Ross Book Award 2022 was announced on Wednesday. Endowed by businessman and philanthropist Arthur Ross in 2001, the award recognizes the contributions of non-fictional to the understanding of foreign policy. The award, managed by the US Council on Foreign Relations (CFR), covers books written on translated into the English language.
According to the CFR’s official website, the award gives special attention to three elements in the nominees:
- New information that changes the understanding of global events
- Analytical approaches that offer crucial insights into critical issues
- New ideas that help solve foreign policy problems

The Arthur Ross Book Award was first awarded in 2002 and is given to three authors – Gold, Silver, and Bronze. In 2021, the honor was awarded to:

Silver Medal: Peter Baker and Susan B. Glasser – ‘The Man Who Ran Washington: The Life and Times of James A. Baker III’
